Vista 5456.5 (Post Beta 2 Release)

Some of you have heard already i’m sure as it’s been floating around a few days now that the interim release after Beta2′s public release has come out and i was waiting on some reviews before i upgraded and it seems microsoft is starting to line up there balls in a straight line now. The latest build 5456.5 is a big step in the right direction according to reviewers the most welcome change is the updated Network Center that really simplifies and makes accessing features alot easier. Another huge step in the right direction is the performance in this build. Saving in office used to be abismal now it takes about 2 seconds a huge improvement, and the general overall feel of the OS seems to be alot more snappy. There are a few things i noticed are still lacking …

1. While its great to see microsoft FINALLY updating the icons for vista in the device manager and other areas there are still alot of icons that need upgrading and i hope they can find and update them all before vista ships theres nothing like bad artwork to kill an OS and make it feel unpolished
2. Still missing Antialiasing in WGF … such as during flip3d
3. Performance still not as good in XP especially during gaming hopefully this is just debug code and that we will see it improved before RTM.
4. Windows Movie Maker still hasn’t gotten any new features? Nice new GUI but no new real upgraded features?
5. Wasn’t there supposed to be a graphical device manager that OEM’s could custimize to represent there machines?
6. Microsoft update still not integrated? its great to see the ultimate downloads in the update screen (whatever those end up being god knows) but still no microsoft update … shouldnt vista be recognizing office 2003 updates that are pending? i mean it does for the spyware updates why not for other MS apps?
