Those crazy guys over at sharp have developed a window that absorbs lighting during the day while its in its tinted motif, as to keep the house cooler, but during the night the window emits a nice white glow to light the house, it’s a really wonderful concept (although how do you turn it off when its time for bed LOL, guess thats what window shades are for.) But don’t expect many people to be sporting them when they come out in 2007, the solar panel regardless of sharp doing everything they possibly can to reduce cost, such as reducing the silicon for the solar panel material from 180microns to 150microns (lets just say super super tiny) the fact is the cost of the materials for the solar panels itself aren’t looking to make a decline any time soon unfortunately.
Personally i find this really cool for the sheer fact that it’s independent and solar, no wires or anything, if you couple this together with perhaps some of those OLED based tv windows we were supposed to get eventually and the epaper white lights for covering spaces (but that requires electricity).. the future is looking wonderful.. and high tech, but then again the future of if we want this is also looking expensive.
