GTA vs Saints Row

I’m really getting sick of people saying that Saints Row is just a crappy copy of GTA, first off thats like saying that Quake 3 or Unreal is a copy of Doom 1 … it just isn’t it’s a genre, it’s an open worlded environment based on street crime. So give me a break about the “it’s a copy”. Also i’m even more tired of people saying that SR is barely a step up from GTA in graphics… this brought me to make the colage you see below they are by far not the best pictures of either game but it just goes to show how easily people forget how crappy games of the past generation looked. This was done in a PGR2 vs PGR3 thread on Gamespot after someone said they looked no better, and the fact is people don’t do side by side comparisons so they miss all the huge changes made between the games. Note: These screenshots don’t showcase the ragdoll physics that Saints Row also has.

And that’s just a direct comparison of some of the graphics between the 2 games. Although i’ll agree the girls/hooker in this compairson even with the low polycount i’d still give it to GTA LOL… The fact is it goes beyond just graphics, The gameplay in general has been greatly upped in comparison to old GTA games, things like load times when entering stores has completely been removed and is now smooth without the delay of game, they have added an entire new style of robbery where you can break in and steal a few things or come back at night and break in and steal the entire stores contents with a truck. Drug trafficing, insurance fraud, kidnapping, the list goes on and on the fact is Saints Row has ALOT to offer that people aren’t giving it credit for. OH, and i almost forgot … full Xbox Live support for multiplayer gaming. Guess they copied the many modes of that from gta as well? Give me a break.

Now i’m not saying that the Saints Row is going to be better than GTA IV because no one knows what GTA IV will bring with it, but this article was to try to put a stop to the stupid remarks going around that Saints Row isn’t any better graphically or gameplay wise than OLD gta games. The game surely is a nextgen title, and people neglect to see the improvements that have taken place, which i find quite sad.
