Ok ladies and germs, you know for the longest time i’ve been an HDDVD enthusiast, hell the iHD layer alone is enough to make it a winner for me, HDDVD is my love for the shear fact its more than just blank media for movies. And it would appear i’m not the only one that thinks HDDVD’s launch as well as its pricing is a winning combination.
I just got an email from one of the big members from AVSforum (Edward Downer) and he had some interesting tidbits of news concerning the media war…

I’ll be sending you a list of contacts you can email – to coincide with the launch of the website. We will also be broadening the appeal of the petition campaign, to support hardware manufacturers and certain Retail chains.
In the news, I was informed yesterday that the Videoscape report on home movie sales has just come out for the last month, and shows that HD DVD is outselling Bluray by a factor of 11 to 1. Wow… That’s more than 10 times the sales! The month before, HD DVD was outselling Bluray by 8 to 1, so the gap is growing bigger. HD DVD is where the buyers are, the sales are – and the money. Studios are seeing this, and it’s on their minds as they see our letters.
HD DVD continues to grow by leaps and bounds, based on the consistently exceptional quality of the video and audio being delivered now, in the real world, by the format.
Basically to sum up, thats 11:1 in sales of HDDVD media, theres no way studios aren’t going to start migrating over to the HDDVD camp, not with sales so severely weighted against bluray, and not with the deficiet growing by the month, add on top of that several porn studios already saying they are joining with HDDVD for the shear authoring facilities of the HD camp vs sony’s tight grip on the BD authoring tools… and perhaps people will start seeing that perhaps Sony’s choice to risk their entire company on bluray wasn’t a good idea (especially after Betamax, SACD, and UMD).

I’m not sold on this at all. First off not many people have purchased an HDDVD player or Blu ray player yet.

Second you have the 800 pound gorilla coming to our shores in a couple of months with the arrival of PS3 which already has a built in blu ray player and is already guarenteed to sell out before Christmas(If people were paying $1000+ on ebay for the 360 God knows how much they will be willing to pay for the PS3) Secondly I have the 360 but I’m a gamer and will also purchase the PS3 and refuse to buy the HDDVD player accessory for the 360 (Microsoft has already stated the hddvd drive will not be utilized for gaming) or HDDVDs or Blu Ray DVDs (not game related) until regular DVDs are no longer available. I’m not willing to commit to a format right now.
Or we might end up with this dual standard dvd players.

Everyone should have got on board to one standard instead of inadvertantly creating a slow down for the next few years on any high def dvd player sales.
