Matt decided to give the whole AppleTV full MacOSX a try for the sheer reason of putting it up against a benchmark of a Mac Mini. To no suprise it couldn’t keep up with a Mac Mini with a much faster processor and a gig of ram.
HOWEVER it did mange to keep pretty close in most of the tests scoring a reasonable 55.75, no it’s no gaming PC but for a standard quick dirt cheap pc it might not be all that horrible not for $299. It did fall well behind in some areas such as 3d graphics, but that was kind of to be expected considering the onboard video.
But then again whats the last time grandma or auntie needed more than safari and some mail :) Like i said for 299$ can you really beg for more than video and audio and some surfing and mail? Ya of course we can LOL but we won’t get it, im strongly considering buying an AppleTV just to do this a quick highly mobile desktop for surfing and doing general stuff.
I’ll be more convinced if they can get the graphics acceleration working or at minimum audio.
