With windows mobile gaining ground and more and more manufacturers adapting the new os WM6 for phones around the world. Blackberrys been a major competitor it’s basically its own little ecosystem of phones/services/software. But apparently some recent decisions might see that ecosystem expand and make blackberry hardware well… as i said in the title irrevilent. The whole blackberry software/service solution is wonderful and works great, but alot of IT professionals love Windows Mobile 6 for its development platform and ever growing library of software and SDK’s. So with it being blackberry hardware and software vs the world of wm6 manufacturers how can blackberry make sure that their services and software stay mainstream and in use for years to come, simple port over tall the big apps and therefor services to WM6.
The new onset of WM6 compatible applications will add support for blackberry’s email, phone, calendar, address book, task, memos, browser, instant messaging and pretty much anything else that was originally developed for the blackberry platform. So why exactly do we need the blackberry hardware anymore? Especially when apparently we can use any WM6 device in the near future to get full Blackberry access, like our treo, samsung or many other manufactured smartphones.
This basically means that from now on when your company’s IT department orders you to use blackberrys services, you might not need that blackberry pearl, because your new spiffy WM6 phone will soon be fully supporting the whole blackberry universe.
