It’s not often Microsoft catches us beta testers offguard but they did last night, with the announcement that the next CTP of Longhorn was available for download. As most of you know that are beta testers the next version wasn’t expected until the end of April, and that version was supposed to be beta 3. So the question is is this CTP just a quick release to tide testers over until beta 3? Is it a replacement for beta 3? Or has Beta 3 been pushed back further and this released as a placeholder until it’s ready?
We are pleased to announce the release of the April 2007 Community Technology Preview of Windows Server “Longhorn” (v6001-16497-070330-1720). Important notes:
- English is the only language provided for this release.
- You should use a key from the key package “Beta 2 Enterprise Server (v.5384) and Up Including v6001-16497-070330-1720″
- There is no upgrade support from any version, you must do a clean install
- Download and review the FAQ for this release
