As you all know I went and bought a Macbook a month or 2 ago because well, believe it or not for the hardware it came with it was the most cost effective buy i could find on eBay :) Well since then i’ve been trying to find pretty much anything for my new little macbook, Yes i have parallels installed so that i can run all of my Windows applications which is great by all means but, Since I’m running OSX anyway i’ve been trying pretty hard to find native applications and games for my new toy. It’s been a bit challenging, before buying the Macbook i never realized how segregated the internet is, you have to realize that 99% of internet sites and developers seem to be putting out windows programs which was great when i was running XP and Vista, but now that i’m testing out OSX it can be a bit depressing when you can’t find what your looking for.
When hunting to find mac games is where the real difficulty comes into play, and when i say games i don’t mean just another copy of mac solitaire I mean real games. It’s just a nightmare and what’s even harder is once you’ve found games or hell even applications pretty much all of them cost at least something. I mean in Windows theirs almost always an open source or freeware alternative, but when your in OSX it seems that even the tiniest of groups are trying to nickel and dime you to death, i mean who the hell charges for an add-on for a web browser. So when i was hunting i came across quite the internet mac games site but what more it has information and news on ALOT of other macintosh basic applications, something that is a welcome sight for someone like myself thats been looking everywhere for it. Yes theirs still a large number of things that I haven’t found alternatives for and the rest i’m actively refusing to pay for small things that should be free.
So for those of you that are on a Mac, and are like me just hunting for at least the tiniest bit of freeware in a shareware world, you might want to check the site out and give it a look see.
