iPhone 1.1.3 on the way soon, hacked iPhone’s don’t upgrade yet!!!

Ok I’m posting this early because I know how thick headed techies can be. If your one of the MANY people with hacked or jailbroken iPhone’s. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT, go trying to upgrade when Apple releases the new 1.1.3 firmware for the iPhone.

As with previous versions of the firmware that Apple releases it has already been confirmed that the old hacks do not work on the new firmware, and trying to upgrade will almost certainly brick your iPhone and leave you with a paper weight. I’m saying this now before the new firmware is even out for download via iTunes because last time everyone, their mother and sister and in between went upgrading to 1.1.2 and then complaining that their iPhone was broken and not usable, so unless you want to treat your iPhone like a pair of disposable gloves WAIT TO UPGRADE!

The fact is it will take a few weeks or so for the hacker community to find a new way in and a safe way to upgrade your iPhone’s to the new version of software without turning your beloved phone into a coaster. So lets not have a repeat of the 1.1.2 fiasco, if you have an iPhone and if it’s jailbroken or unlocked, you need to WAIT to upgrade to any new versions until you see either my site or one of the other many sites saying that it is safe and how to properly upgrade.

What’s New In 1.1.3 Anyway

Now beyond that let me go through what we know about the 1.1.3 and what’s new from the previous version. That is beyond the fact that it once again breaks cracked iPhone’s.

First of all the old image exploit way into the iPhone is definitly gone, so the hacker team will be looking for a new way in.

  • The ability to send SMS messages to multiple people
  • Google Maps can locate your location based on cell tower triangulation (if area supports it)
  • Google Maps now displays the Hybrid map view
  • You can now drag and drop application icons on the home screen
  • The home screen now has support for pagination (preparation for SDK apps?)
  • You can now add web bookmarks to your home screen.
