Contact-less hybrid bus goes into service in Tokyo airport.

contactless-hybrid-bus Japan might be set to have the fastest maglev train in a few years, but something else is becoming a reality right now. The new break through the country can brag over is the fact that they are deploying the first contact-less hybrid bus system. This is basically a smaller iteration of the maglev technology. It will be deployed in Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and will replace the older bus system with the new futuristic bus. Now if a frictionless, floating contact-less bus wasn’t enough it gets even better.

It’s also going to be a hybrid bus that promises to reduce carbon emissions from the bus system by 60 percent, to the older 20th century bus’s. I wonder if the hybridness counteracts the cutting edgeness of the floating bus concept when it comes time for them to get an auto insurance quote . (Can’t you picture the insurance representative’s face “is it a 2 or 4 wheel vehicle” … “actually it has no wheels it hovers :D”) Wow this system really makes the US bus systems look like crap and soooo last-gen. Unfortunately we don’t know any information on the buses beyond that, but the first bus is in operation covering a full 4.2kilometers area around the airport system.
