On recent Friday, Apple released Lion (“Gold Master” build) to developers and it has raised the rumors that Apple is going to ship its latest OS soon in market. Gold Master is labeled by the developers for the software that are ready to hit the market. However, Apple is not going to release the DVD version of Mac OS X 10.7 or Lion, rather it can only be downloaded from the Mac App Stores.

Lion GM – Creating waves

Along with its first glance, Lion FM has created the waves in the market and there are numerous rumors about its release date in the market. However, as per Apple resources it will be shipped by the end of this month. But some unnamed sources are claiming the release dates as 6 July, 14 July and so on.

OS specifications

This latest OS for Apple Mac gadgets will be distributed only through downloading channels for $29.99 only. If you own a Mac system then you can upgrade Snow Leopard OS to Lion GM for this price.

The main drawback is the weight of this OS. It weighs approx 4 GB making it difficult for dial-up connection users to download it directly. But Apple comes with a solution offering free download through wi-fie channels available at any of Apple retails store.

God honest, I’m a diehard firefox/chrome user, actually more chrome as lately firefox has just been feeling slow to me even without plugins. But this morning I had a surprise… I installed the IE9 beta, as a joke just to laugh at IE once more… but OH MY GOD, Microsoft must have taken drugs or something, the interface is beautiful, theirs a download manager, and speed… the speed is UNBELIEVEABLE, i mean i honestly thought i was using chrome, but no, i wasn’t I was in internet explorer, and even moreso, it felt faster than chrome, apparently their DirectX acceleration is working because WOW.

So far I haven’t had any rendering issues, and apparently its now very standards compliant gaining a 95 on the Acid3 test, the highest ever for a microsoft browser. Honestly I’m sitting here and can’t believe i’m actually considering starting to use IE again as my default browser, I’ve already installed it on my laptop/work pc and home pc today, and on all of them it flies.

One thing i really love, is that when it starts up it warns you if you have plugins that are taking long to start up and slowing the browser, i imidiately clicked it and killed a bunch of things, java taking 3 seconds to load WTF, the graph it shows you of plugin start times makes it easy, i mean 99.99999% of sites have 0 java ever and its taking up like 95% of startup time. turned that off and some others and wow now start performance is equally impressive less than a second.

This is NOT a sponsored message, this is my honest opinion and i’d definitly recommend everyone to take a shot and install IE9, you might be surprised, yes its a beta so be careful its probably still got some bugs, but then again doesn’t IE6/7/8, i doubt it could ever we worse than them.

This is probably the most definitive bit of information that micro-displays are getting sharper and more advanced.

This latest display prototype is Kopin Corporation which had to shrink the individual color pixel dots down to 2.9 x 8.7 µm to reach this standard just for a bit of reference the basic human hair is 100 µm wide, meaning these dots are 2% of that basically much closer to the size of a red blood cell in our body than anything else.

No one can really complain about fidelity at this insane pixel density, but Kopin promises that the development is a necessity so that they can later scale the same technology up to doing 2048×2048 displays on the size or slightly smaller than the typical postage stamps. Kind of funny isn’t it all those big boss people screaming how their TV’s are “True HD because they do 1080p, LOL just now a screen the size of a postage stamp will have the same resolution, and god forbid you start imagining if they scaled it up to full you know 24″ screen sizes :) Can’t wait to see the video cards to push something like that :) Ahhh don’t you just love the way technology keeps leaping forward every day.

Can your phone or PDA power a 1080p set without dropping frames or run a fully 3d interface without any hiccups? Can your PDA plug into a laptop body and power it up as if it was a full blown laptop? Well then your obviously not holding a NVidia Tegra powered device, which makes sense since their not on sale yet. The Tegra APX 2600 chipset that NVIDIA is showing off is where all their tech demos has just about every consumer that see’s it and with some hope many manufacturers dieing for it to release so it can start hitting their products.

Lets just get this out of the way Tegra isn’t a phone it’s a hardware platform that will be in just about any type of portable or handheld device (and probably televisions etc as well). No your beloved iPhone is not going to outperform a Tegra powered device but if Apple is smart they should get Tegra for their next generation iPhone because as NVIDIA showed off this hardware rocks! One thing that might shy Apple away is the fact that one of the tech demos they were showing off was the fact they had ported over Android to run on one of the proof of concept devices. Then again that was sitting next to another device that was streaming 1080p video to a massive plasma, with a supposed 10 hour battery life, so maybe apple could overlook the fact that a competitor would be using the same hardware? :)

The android device was apparently quite responsive and fluid even thought they only ported android over recently and only had a few weeks to work on it. If your interested in seeing more head over to the source for videos of the proof of concept devices in action, just don’t drool too much on your keyboard, I mean even if the fact you could probably stream your high def copy of star wars, right next to reading the latest medical coding training courses and surfing the internet on a device no bigger than an iPod plugged into your plasma at home. Wow that’s just hot thinking about it :)

When is a wheel not a wheel, well when it’s a ewheel completely eliminating the need for many aspects of a cars engine to disappear from under the hood. The Michelin man and a company named Valeo have agreed to collaborate on an “electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicle system” the system itself would include the engine, drive train, a cooling system for batteries, climate control, lighting and energy management and even tires. The first thing to come out of this partnership is known as the E-Wheel, it utilizes Michelin’s own active wheel technology that embeds two electric wheels inside the hub of the tire one for power and one for full active suspension.

I mean this isn’t the next big fad or another diet pill like Stimerex ES. This is a real break through and a groundbreaking change from how things would be done. I mean active suspension is an amazing idea and Bose had a system for it a while back but we never saw it make it into many non-superrich cars but with the ability to pretty much completely remove all road bumps it’s a great move. And moving the actual propulsion to the wheel itself it greatly improves performance and efficiency of the engines themselves. The design completely removes the need for gearboxes, drive shafts, and pretty much the entire car suspension as it’s currently known. The only thing I think they haven’t confirmed is that the tires are runflat tires I mean thta would really top the cake on these wicked wheels.

Venturi has already demonstrated these new e-wheels in their Volage concept car and proven that they are as awesome as they sound. Their only looking now for a major manufacturing auto maker to take it to the next level and design and produce a car full blown.

Personally I don’t understand what the hell is wrong with GM and the rest of the US automakers, you’ve got congress bashing you to make huge changes in your cars and to respark the industry and you have revolutionary platforms like this ready at the drop of a dime what the hell are they waiting for? Oh ya knowing the US big 3 their probably going to try to reinvent it in a “better” way that takes 30 years, we’ll probably end up seeing it in some Indian ultra-mini car before the big 3 take it on.
