I’m sincerely sorry for the lack of updates to the site but i’ve been working on some good things. I run a lot of websites and as such I pretty much make my living off of ad-revenue, so the amount of traffic my sites get directly affect my way of living. God i hate ad-blockers, anyway… As such the more traffic i get the more my site perform and the more revenue i make so that i can spend more time dedicating to hobby sites like NexTechNews. I’ve been talking to an SEO consultant about making adjustments to both this site and my other sites to optimize there search engine traffic.

Theres a lot of things that certain Dallas SEO companies have been suggesting that make me feel like i can really turn around the lackluster traffic to actually get things to the point where my money making sites can actually run on there own and really bring in soem change for me. As things progress i will be monitoring the movement of the sites in the search engine to see how things are performing and if the Dallas SEO services i have aquired have been really pushing my sites to where I want them but from what I can see so far things are going well, i’ve started to have a few of my sites rebound and get going again from where they seem to in the past few months gone completely dormant traffic wise, though that’s more my fault than anyone elses as i sort of stopped making adjustments and updating the sites, possibly even worse so than i treated NTN something that I hope to have remedied very shortly. NTN should start seeing regular posts again as soon as the rest of my network of sites SEO picks up and gets some solid SERP traffic that will get me the open time to really work on sites like NTN that i truely love writing for.

God honest, I’m a diehard firefox/chrome user, actually more chrome as lately firefox has just been feeling slow to me even without plugins. But this morning I had a surprise… I installed the IE9 beta, as a joke just to laugh at IE once more… but OH MY GOD, Microsoft must have taken drugs or something, the interface is beautiful, theirs a download manager, and speed… the speed is UNBELIEVEABLE, i mean i honestly thought i was using chrome, but no, i wasn’t I was in internet explorer, and even moreso, it felt faster than chrome, apparently their DirectX acceleration is working because WOW.

So far I haven’t had any rendering issues, and apparently its now very standards compliant gaining a 95 on the Acid3 test, the highest ever for a microsoft browser. Honestly I’m sitting here and can’t believe i’m actually considering starting to use IE again as my default browser, I’ve already installed it on my laptop/work pc and home pc today, and on all of them it flies.

One thing i really love, is that when it starts up it warns you if you have plugins that are taking long to start up and slowing the browser, i imidiately clicked it and killed a bunch of things, java taking 3 seconds to load WTF, the graph it shows you of plugin start times makes it easy, i mean 99.99999% of sites have 0 java ever and its taking up like 95% of startup time. turned that off and some others and wow now start performance is equally impressive less than a second.

This is NOT a sponsored message, this is my honest opinion and i’d definitly recommend everyone to take a shot and install IE9, you might be surprised, yes its a beta so be careful its probably still got some bugs, but then again doesn’t IE6/7/8, i doubt it could ever we worse than them.

Everyone might have noticed in the past few weeks we’ve been having some nasty outages, as of late we’re still unable to track down what’s causing the actual outages, it could be a server or a co-location issue but we’re unsure which. One thing we’re considering is bringing the server back to the Caribbean so that we can monitor it directly. But considering how much cheaper it is hosting in the US we think we might try a different host first. So that idea got me hunting for reviews of different vps hosts and co-location sites that we might be able to use during our transfer/relocation.

As I know a fare few people that stop by NTN are webmasters I thought it would be a good idea to bring up a nice gem named WebHostingGeeks they basically have a large list of all types of webhosts and they have done some pretty good reviews to cover all the necessary bases to make it easy to make a informed decision. In the past I’ve been to several review sites but it seems to be difficult to find sites that review windows based solutions as if we do decide to bring it back to the Caribbean it’s gonna take 4-5 days to get here and setup so we can’t have all of our sites offline and a solid VPS would be great as a stopgap during the transfer while we fine tune the server.

A site like WebHostingGeeks is pretty helpful especially since ever webhost says their the best and have 0 downtime etc etc, which is all pretty much bull it’s nice to get a roundup from a third party. Even if your just looking for a host that will be a bit more environmentally friendly I mean they’ve even got a list of green web hosting companies.

Take this post in 2 ways, 1 that we’re planning a big move to improve stability as well as a tip for your hosting needs.

Ok now if the Porsche guys were like the mafia then Google Street View team would really be looking for a Chicago injury lawyer because they’re just getting all up in Porsche’s secret business goings on. I mean a while back it was big news when we discovered that the street view cameras had mistakenly recorded some guy pissing in public behind a car (but blurred his face, thanks Google privacy). Well it looks like Google’s privacy filters missed something else, this time it’s Porsche’s next generation cars that seem to have had their privacy erased. The picture seen above shows several updated cars pre-covering namely “Boxters, Caymans and even the 911″”.

I mean if a Google street view truck can drive by a secret set of pre-release cars and just record them and publish them for EVERYONE to see. It really makes you wonder if that privacy filter that blurs faces is really enough to actually be considered “Privacy”. I mean if it can catch half naked people, and secret projects it’s odd… really makes me wonder how long it will be until Street View takes a drive through the Mojave Desert, i hear theirs an interesting airstrip down their that might be interesting to grab some pictures of.

Believe it or not I’m a Mac user, ok not 100% as I also use a PC 80% of the time for my home and work computers, but the other 20% that I’m on my laptop I tend to use MacOS X… I used to do a lot of bittorrent downloading before I switched to newsgroups, the issue I had though was sometimes I wanted to download things using my laptop and quickly bumped into a nasty thing in the world of the Mac users. Azureus is pretty much the standard freeware bittorrent app and just like on the PC it’s bloated as hell while not quite as bad as it’s windows counterpart. Now before anyone thinks I’m bashing Azureus it’s a great program it’s just way more feature rich than I need when it comes to grabbing torrents without impacting my PC’s performance.

Well amongst the millions of spam emails I got today to my gmail, from the usual “I love you long time” emails, and perhaps the slightly more on target acne treatment products was an email from my old friends at the uTorrent site! You see for those that haven’t used uTorrent on the PC (wait there are still those that don’t use it WTF?!?) it’s an extremely fast and extremely lightweight bittorrent client that works and looks great and clocks in at under 1 MB. It’s just the best bittorrent client on the net, the major draw back was that their wasn’t a native Mac version, I mean people wanted uTorrent on Mac so bad they were running it via emulators (crossover, VMware fusion etc). Well fret not my fellow Mac users the day is upon us. uTorrent has announced that they are ready to beta the native version of uTorrent for MacOSX. As always remember this is a beta so bugs are expected but that’s what they make the forum for… reporting issues… either way bittorrent is now Mac friendly!

Oh ya one little hitch, it’s currently Leopard and Intel only for now but hey it’s also only a beta for now but be happy it’s finally here for the most part!
