Another Dev Admits: "360 and ps3 performance a wash"

While Canadian developer Silicon Knights can’t divulge when Too Human will get released, company prez Dennis Dyack can offers his opinion on the console war. Silicon Knights previously had inked a second party deal with Nintendo, but signed with Microsoft in 2004 for the Too Human trilogy.

The 360 and the PS3 are equal in power in my eyes. Maybe the PS3 has more processing power. The 360 has more available memory. It’s pretty much a net, net. The public perception of the PS3 was that it was much more powerful. To developers, they look even.

So anyone keeping track of I think we’re up to 4 or 5 big name developers all saying the 360 and ps3 are a wash to developers and will perform equally. And with the XNA making development easier, its kind of easy to see why games that got equal dev time on both platforms, like call of duty 3 ended up looking just a hint better.

The question is could this ease of programming and reconfirmed performance equality give credit to a Microsoft exec saying future 360 games will continue to look a bit better than their ps3 counterparts???

Time will tell i suppose, but we just know Microsofts has a strong point with the 360, especialy with reduced ps3 shipments, a poor ps3 launch lineup and a slew of bad plublicty for the ps3… The question is can brand loyalty to the ps3 be swayed enough to start getting the vast majority of ps2 users over to the 360? Alot of kids seem to want a ps3 not because of any specific reason or game but because its a playstation… or atleast thats what it seems like to me.
