Level Design: Gears of War style!

We all remember back in the day of starcraft and total annihilation when we all got copys of the pretty level design software, plop down some tree’s and some start locations, maybe a few gold mines in warcraft… and you’re off on a brand new map. Well as games have become more and more complex so has their level design, and after such a backlash over the Ghost Recon levels for the 360 came out more expensive than most people thought i figured this was a good post to show just how complex level design is these days.

  

Microsoft and the boys over at Gears of War put together a little video touching on the level design they have to go through with the Unreal Engine, it’s hosted over at xboxyde thanks guys. And even if you do realise how complex these nextgen worlds are it definitly is worth a look. So go grab the video!
