Now here’s the interesting thing, I hate the iPhone because of the way Apple has gimped it and locked it down. But with the new releases of ziPhone that cracks just about every version of firmware Apple has released so far opens up a plethora of applications that Apple should have let on since day 1, not to mention unlocking the insane sim restrictions that Apple have put in place.
So I hate iPhone’s, but I love me a cracked unlocked iPhone :) And it looks like the community at large might be in for a surprise fairly soon as the rumor is that the falling prices of flash media, will see the iPhone and iPod both receiving a $100 price drop, putting the 16gb iPhone at 399$ and the 8gb iPhone at 299$ which would make it an instant buy for me, I mean hell even a computer rental is more expensive than that :) The fact is I’d hate to spend over 300$ on a phone, no matter how much potential it has after being cracked.
This would also mean that the 16gb and 32gb iPod Touch’s would fall to 299$ and 399$ price tag respectively. But at the same time the rumor includes the fact that the 8GB touch would be phased out, though as I and Engadget agree, I’d say they should dump the iPod nano, and keep the 8gb touch for $199 as at that price they’d fly off the shelf.
