CCTV Security keeps improving

I know it’s been a long time since i posted not that i have forgotten about the site but just been increasingly busy to review products and sites, but as i’ve been looking into some security ideas for my house and office, i decide why not post a recap of some new Security Cameras CCTV style for monitoring everything thats going on at home and making sure if anything does go wrong i’m not caught with my pants down so to speak. It’s sad that 99% of the stuff you find from the states comes via import and at insane markup price, so when it comes time to actually fit up a system with DVR Security Cameras there is one great way to save a few bucks… Don’t go to the re-sellers that mark up the price insanely go to a location like CCTV Imports that passes on import savings without insane markups…

I’ve been looking at a variety of different styles, i love the new style that actually have the DVR built in so that each camera is in essence its own tiny DVR… it gives the ability that if the intruders steal the DVR box, theres still a chance to catch them do to the cameras recording themselves as well… Security Cameras that have these features don’t come cheap but why would they there increasing your rate of catching burglers and at the same time reducing the amount of hardware needed and adding redundancy to a system that truely needs the most possible redundant features available…

Now while I am saying to try to get a great deal on cameras and dvr’s thats by no means a “go cheap or go home” philosophy… in fact its the exact opposite you should spend a little extra for redundant features and improved reliability… The point i make is that you need to make sure your paying for what your getting not just a name on a box… Or atleast thats my view of things, uggghhhh i know first post back and i’m rambling, anyway thanks for listening in for 2 secs while i ramble about the latest in decisions i need to make in my life :)

Do you hate Internet Explorer? I do

God honest, I’m a diehard firefox/chrome user, actually more chrome as lately firefox has just been feeling slow to me even without plugins. But this morning I had a surprise… I installed the IE9 beta, as a joke just to laugh at IE once more… but OH MY GOD, Microsoft must have taken drugs or something, the interface is beautiful, theirs a download manager, and speed… the speed is UNBELIEVEABLE, i mean i honestly thought i was using chrome, but no, i wasn’t I was in internet explorer, and even moreso, it felt faster than chrome, apparently their DirectX acceleration is working because WOW.

So far I haven’t had any rendering issues, and apparently its now very standards compliant gaining a 95 on the Acid3 test, the highest ever for a microsoft browser. Honestly I’m sitting here and can’t believe i’m actually considering starting to use IE again as my default browser, I’ve already installed it on my laptop/work pc and home pc today, and on all of them it flies.

One thing i really love, is that when it starts up it warns you if you have plugins that are taking long to start up and slowing the browser, i imidiately clicked it and killed a bunch of things, java taking 3 seconds to load WTF, the graph it shows you of plugin start times makes it easy, i mean 99.99999% of sites have 0 java ever and its taking up like 95% of startup time. turned that off and some others and wow now start performance is equally impressive less than a second.

This is NOT a sponsored message, this is my honest opinion and i’d definitly recommend everyone to take a shot and install IE9, you might be surprised, yes its a beta so be careful its probably still got some bugs, but then again doesn’t IE6/7/8, i doubt it could ever we worse than them.

Many many headaches soon to be gone forever!

After a long break from NexTechNews, I should be back to posting at a regular level again in the next week or 2, why, you ask? Well simple the server will soon no longer suck, we already moved to the new Quad Core 6600 and 8gb of ram monster. But the site is still slow, why? Because we were running all of our blogs in a virtual server, which honestly sucks. So we’re moving now to PHP 5.2.13 (5.3.2 is buggy as shit on fastcgi), IIS7, Server 2008, and WinCache 1.1 to keep things really fast :)

This should all be active by the end of March on all of our websites, will keep everyone posted as things progress.

Cities XL Beta upcoming preview.

citiesxlA lot of my visitors may have not heard of CitiesXL, and that’s mainly my fault as it’s slipped under my radar along with the fact that I haven’t really been updating the site as often as I should, but things are changing for the better in the near future. As beyond the reviews of generic big tech events, I’m also going to start doing previews and reviews of games and software that I get access to. Thanks to the friendly people at Cities XL’s development company they allowed me to participate in the beta since last night and after I figure out how everythings works I’ll be starting off this new trend of full reviews and previews with Cities XL as the first.

I tried really hard to get some of those cities xl beta keys to give away but alas they didn’t have any further available for giveaways but if that changes I’ll be sure to get some for my most loyal visitors. After only 1 night with the beta i’ll say this much it’s definitly a hell of an experience, and blows things like simcity out of the water, but like any beta it’s a work in progress and it shows. But more information will come after I, you know actually do the proper tutorial and have a city that’s not about as bad off as california’s budget is :).

Evian Commercial both Frightening and Amazing

Freaky Evian Baby Dance Commercial
You know sometimes you see something that’s technologically amazing that it was pulled off and looks as good as it does, but sometimes that thing that’s so amazing is just sort of creepy as well no matter how much you tell yourself it isn’t. Well the new baby commercial from Evian water, is totally amazing but also a little bit frightening/creepy at the same time. Don’t get me wrong the kids are cute, the graphic’s work are impressive, but something just still makes it awesomely creepy.

It’s definitely worth a look, and the picture above really doesn’t show how funny and cute and still creepy the video remains to be. So definitely take a look at it below if you have a few seconds it’s definitely worth it :)
