The boys over at Arstechnica you know the awesome site that well gets a lot of rumors right apparently has a gaming related source that has some information on a Resident Evil 5 themed Xbox360 set to come to market.

This won’t be a game shoved in a box with a picture on the box, no apparently the rumor is that the xbox360 RE5 bundle will come with a  custom Red Xbox360 Premium, Red Remote, of course a copy of Resident Evil 5 as well as a full on Premium NXE Resident Evil 5 theme, and as an odd bonus Super Street Fighter Turbo HD code for download. As it stands the entire thing is a rumor, and it all seems very exciting hell I want a red Xbox360! And I’ve been considering buying a new one for my bedroom anyway :)

Upcoming move possibly, and finding a temporary host.

Everyone might have noticed in the past few weeks we’ve been having some nasty outages, as of late we’re still unable to track down what’s causing the actual outages, it could be a server or a co-location issue but we’re unsure which. One thing we’re considering is bringing the server back to the Caribbean so that we can monitor it directly. But considering how much cheaper it is hosting in the US we think we might try a different host first. So that idea got me hunting for reviews of different vps hosts and co-location sites that we might be able to use during our transfer/relocation.

As I know a fare few people that stop by NTN are webmasters I thought it would be a good idea to bring up a nice gem named WebHostingGeeks they basically have a large list of all types of webhosts and they have done some pretty good reviews to cover all the necessary bases to make it easy to make a informed decision. In the past I’ve been to several review sites but it seems to be difficult to find sites that review windows based solutions as if we do decide to bring it back to the Caribbean it’s gonna take 4-5 days to get here and setup so we can’t have all of our sites offline and a solid VPS would be great as a stopgap during the transfer while we fine tune the server.

A site like WebHostingGeeks is pretty helpful especially since ever webhost says their the best and have 0 downtime etc etc, which is all pretty much bull it’s nice to get a roundup from a third party. Even if your just looking for a host that will be a bit more environmentally friendly I mean they’ve even got a list of green web hosting companies.

Take this post in 2 ways, 1 that we’re planning a big move to improve stability as well as a tip for your hosting needs.

$40,000 for a computer chair… ok An Emperor Workstation :)

emperorgiz

First thanks Gizmodo for the Image as I hunted all over NovelQuest’s website and can’t find any wicked images that show this baby off like the awesome picture above. What would you guys drop $40,000 on? Maybe a nice Lexus, or a Large down payment on a house… Na we’re computer guru’s and none of that would help in our countless hours of blogging or … well… World of Warcraft ;). I know what your thinking $40,000 is a lot of money to spend let alone on a glorified chair / computer desk.

Well this is no where near your regular computer chair, this is the Emperor Workstation by NovelQuest. This baby has 3 screens with more real estate than some of those quite large digital signage screens that you get excited when you see adverts flashing on in public. But this thing goes much further sporting the ability to tilt hydraulically, rotate 360 degrees, a full THX 5.1 surround sound with a subwoofer in the seat itself. But no that’s not enough, this thing’s got touch screen controls, light therapy, air filtration, adjustable seating, a full 3 hours of backup battery power to keep the entire chair running without a power source. Of course it also has all the basic’s like your iPod/iPhone dock, microphone, webcam, card reader, USB, eSata and Firewire ports as well as a Cable TV input. Basically you could get into this chair and pretty much never leave again, well as long as you use voip to order your dominos.

Wow a useful error message in a version of windows? What next a useful BSOD?

cant_delete_cheap_trick You know theirs been a lot of things in the past that didn’t make sense like errors on windows are so damn cryptic and well useless. I mean come on I’m a computer technician that deals with this stuff on a daily basis, I help customers every day overcome weird cryptic errors. I mean why does a blue screen have to refer to 0×2134942857 instead of a DLL reference, a suggestion, and maybe a little stack trace or line number for Microsoft to reference and fix the problem. Well it’s been forever since the first BSOD error, and other types of windows errors.

Well theirs another error that pissed everyone off including me “The file you are trying to access is in use” and a Button that says try again that never ever works. Your forced to cancel, or use a third party program to figure out what program is using it, or the most common solution used… reboot the entire computer just to erase/move the 1 file. Well in a move that’s about as big as a “why the hell didn’t we think of that sooner” as must have been when disposable diapers first came to parents who used those funky cloth diapers and all the poopy diaper cleaning parents. Microsoft’s latest beta of Windows 7 has revealed one of the most wonderful new features ever, now when you move/delete or modify a file thats in use, instead of a useless error message, you get a MUCH more useful error message and the little tweak that actually shows what program currently has the files locked!

Spectacular move Microsoft, hell even if Windows 7 wasn’t 100s of times better than Vista this feature alone might have been enough to get me to upgrade, well lucky for me then that it’s got all those awesome niceties, but this is definitely a great positive. :)

Palm Pre’s Keynote speech now available in High Quality

pre_03For those that missed CES, you might have also missed the fact that Palm announced what may be the ultimate phone, the “iPhone Killer”. It’s smaller than the iPhone, has an amazing screen, and something even more amazing is the new card based task switching. Yes task switching, as in MULTI TASKING. This baby’s not like the iPhone you don’t click an app and your instantly kicked out of everything else.

Theirs a non-screen based gesture bar at the bottom that allows you to do small gestures to restore the launcher, and to switch apps and other things. It’s quite awesome. The sad part is if rumors are to believed that the 8gb model won’t be sold for the $199 that the iPhone sells for in fact it’s more like general coffee vs Illy espresso. With rumors putting the price on release at around $499. When Palm was asked about it they responded that why would they price it against the iPhone where the Pre is clearly a more advanced phone.

The entire Keynote is available in High Quality kind of the point of this post and is now available for download in MOV format and you can download it by clicking here.
